Math Links
Well... Eric's back!!!
Eric Weisstein's World of Mathmatics - or... MathWorld. Certainly one of the best, if not the very best, online resource for Mathematical information anywhere!
The Math Message Board - An excellent place to ask and answer interesting mathematical questions... lots of fun!
The Math Forum - A good, all-around mathematics resource at Swarthmore College. Most of the material up through the high school level... some college-level material.
ABSTRACT ALGEBRA ON LINE - I have several Abstract Algebra texts, but each one is subtly different... this author focusing on this or that, and saying it in his/her own way. These two texts, for a first course and a follow-up course, are available online. Worth a look-see... College-level.
Number Theory FTP sites/Calculator programs/archives - Extensive archive of number theory-related papers, programs for both hand-held calculators and computers... Like PARI, KANT, and MAGMA. Generally quite advanced; College and Graduate levels. (Caution: some of those computer calculators like PARI and KANT can be difficult to get to work on your computer... can be quite frustrating...)
Number Theory Programs - Collection of number-theoretic programs and algorithms by Pate Williams
from a couple of popular texts. Available for downloading. Continued Fraction-related links are here.
Programming; Perl, CGI, Javascript Links
Matt's Script Archive - Collection of free CGI scripts to enhance your site. Matt was one of the authors of the Authenticate program, the access control program I use for Misty Slims and friends... although I've obviously made extensive modifications, it's his base program.
The CGI Resource Index - Extensive archive of Perl, C, C++ scripts.
CSPAN - Comprehensive Perl Archive Network. Large archive of Perl and CGI modules. If I recall correctly, this is where I got the DateMath library for use with the access program at MSAF.
ActiveState Perl - Binary Perl implementations... I use one of their binary Perl implementations for Windows to test Perl/CGI scripts on my computer before uploading to the server. I also use Perl Development environment for Windows called Perl Builder... useful, nifty, but still a little buggy. Also, what a script will do on the server, say on Unix or Linux, is not always what it does in Windows...!
EarthWeb - Collection of free Javascript routines.
NONAGS - Extensive archive of helper apps for both PC and Internet.
ZDNet - Another archive of helper apps for PC and Internet.
CodeBrain - Awesome Applets, Javascripts,... some Perl. Good site!
David Griffiths home page - Some of the best Java Applets around! You've probably seen David's, or some clone of David's, Lake Applet and Snow Applet... Must see!
The Perl Archive - Nice collection of useful Perl scripts.
Psychosys Perl - Some nifty Perl scripts
JavaFile - Lots and lots of free applets, scripts, and dynamic HTML. (Be sure to close all the pop-up ads, though... else you'll run out of memory fast...)
JavaPowered - Extensive archive of nifty Java Applets.
Books and audiobooks
Barnes & Noble - Generally prefer Barnes & Noble myself... the books always seem to get here much faster than Amazon... could be because they're in New York City and I'm in Connecticut... rather close.
FatBrain - Good resource for some more technical math or computer science books not available through the two above. Can be more expensive, and delivery is generally slow.
Blackstone AudioBooks - This is the place for great audiobooks! Most audiobooks are abridged, which for us purists is frequently blasphemous! You might pay a little more for Blackstone because their audiobooks are unabridged, but I really think it's worth every dime. I usually buy Philosophy and Classics on audiobooks... books I'd probably never have sufficient motivation to read if I had do it the old-fashioned way... and these great works are wonderful, but they take more preliminary motivation to get much out of than more familiar, and easier to relate to, more contemporary titles. So, the audiobooks give me an experience of them, where otherwise I might have none at all.
New Age
Louise Hay - This is Louise Hay's company, Hay House. I have many of Louise's audio tapes, mostly subliminal and other affirmations tapes, mediation and sing-along tapes, including my favorite (really old...), which I try to sing along to every day "Loving Yourself"... "I love myself just the way I am, there's nothing I need to change, I'm beautiful, and capable of being the best me that I can ... when I feel the love inside myself, it's easy to love you ..." Louise is great!
Valley of the Sun and Soaring Spirit online - Dick and Tara Sutphen's publishing company. I've got lots of Dick's subliminal hypnosis and affirmation tapes and videos mostly for healing, self-esteem, and self-confidence. Soaring Spirit is their newsletter. Great self-help material!
Steven Halpern and Inner Peace Music - I have many of Steven's subliminal audio and video tapes. (I'm not sure where the videos are on the website... but they are the best! Very artistic!) Steven's tapes, IMHO, are frequently quite effective, although sometimes a female voice, such as Louise's, is better for me. I believe this even makes a difference subliminally. I usually have some of the subliminal affirmation tapes playing continuously in the background while I work on the computer, work around the house, and sleep.
